Ingredients You'll Need

Big Mac Sliders
  • Slider rolls: A 12-count package of soft slider rolls, such as King’s Hawaiian, creates the perfect pull-apart base for these mini burgers.
  • White onion: Adds classic burger flavor. Part is chopped to cook with the beef, while the rest is minced for topping the sliders.
  • Avocado oil: Used for sautéing the onion and browning the ground beef.
  • Garlic powder: Adds an easy savory boost to the beef mixture.
  • Kosher salt: Seasons the beef and helps bring out all the savory flavors.
  • Ground beef: The hearty, meaty filling that gives these sliders their classic cheeseburger flavor.
  • Cheese slices: Cooper Sharp or cheddar melts beautifully over the beef and makes every slider extra cheesy.
  • Sesame seeds: Sprinkled over the rolls for that signature Big Mac-inspired finishing touch.
  • Melted butter: Brushed over the tops of the rolls to help them bake up golden and flavorful.
  • Burger toppings: Shredded iceberg lettuce, thinly sliced tomato, extra pickles, or any of your favorite burger toppings add freshness and crunch.

For Burger Sauce:

  • Mayonnaise: Creates the creamy base for the homemade burger sauce.
  • Ketchup: Adds a touch of sweetness and tomato flavor.
  • Yellow mustard: Gives the sauce its familiar tangy burger flavor.
  • Dijon mustard: Adds a little extra sharpness and depth.
  • Pickle juice: Thins the sauce slightly while adding that delicious briny pickle flavor. Water can also be used.
  • Chopped pickles: Optional, but perfect if you love extra pickle flavor and texture in your burger sauce.
  • Cayenne pepper: An optional addition for a little heat; add as much or as little as you like.

How to Make Big Mac Sliders

  1. Preheat oven to 350° & prep ingredients: Slice 1 12ct package slider rolls (like King's Hawaiian) carefully in half, separating tops from bottoms. Set tops aside and place the bottoms of the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Make sauce and prep any toppings.
  1. Make Burger Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together ⅓ cup mayo, ¼ cup ketchup, 2 tbs yellow mustard, 1 ½ teaspoon dijon mustard, 2-3 tbs pickle juice (or water) to thin. I love to add finely chopped pickles as well. Mix & adjust to taste!
  1. Assemble Sliders: Make sure bottoms of rolls are on baking sheet. Sprinkle minced raw white onion & then add cheese slices. Add ground beef and onion mixture evenly over the rolls. Carefully place tops of rolls on the ground beef.
  1. Lightly brush with 1 tablespoon melted butter & sprinkle 2 teaspoon sesame seeds evenly over the top. Bake 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the tops are toasty & golden brown. Carefully remove the toasty tops after a few minutes and any toppings & burger sauce if you haven't already done so!
  1. Add Sauce: Let sliders sit for 2-5 minutes until you can carefully remove the tops. Add lettuce, pickles & lots of burger bowl sauce. Place tops back on. Serve immediately (or eat them cold out of the fridge like I do).

Tips for the Best Big Mac Sliders

  • Don’t overcook the beef: Cook the ground beef just until it’s done so the filling stays juicy and tender.
  • Drain excess grease: If your beef releases a lot of fat, drain it before assembling the sliders to keep the bottoms from getting soggy.
  • Keep the rolls connected: Slice the whole sheet of slider rolls in half instead of separating each roll. This makes layering and baking much easier.
  • Use plenty of cheese: Arrange the cheese evenly across the rolls so every slider gets a melty, cheesy bite.
  • Brush the tops with butter: Melted butter helps the rolls turn beautifully golden and toasty. Don’t forget the sesame seeds for that classic Big Mac-style finish.
  • Add cold toppings after baking: Wait until the sliders are baked before adding lettuce, pickles, and burger sauce so they stay fresh and crunchy.
  • Don’t skimp on the sauce: The creamy, tangy burger sauce is what really brings the Big Mac-inspired flavor together.
  • Let them rest before opening: Give the sliders 2–5 minutes after baking. This makes it easier to lift the tops and add your sauce and toppings without everything falling apart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make Big Mac sliders ahead of time?

Yes! You can cook the beef and onion mixture and prepare the burger sauce ahead of time. Store them separately in the refrigerator, then assemble and bake the sliders when you’re ready to serve.

How do I keep the sliders from getting soggy?

Drain any excess grease from the cooked ground beef before adding it to the rolls. It’s also best to add the lettuce, pickles, and burger sauce after baking so the rolls stay soft but not soggy.

What cheese is best for Big Mac sliders?

Cooper Sharp or cheddar cheese works great for this recipe. You can also use American cheese if you want an even more classic fast-food burger flavor.

How do I store leftover Big Mac sliders?

Store leftover sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For the best texture, keep any extra lettuce and burger sauce separate and add them after reheating.
